Back from Vegas...
Well, Neil and I are back from the NNFA Show at the Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas and what a show it was! After having been to quite a lot of
events recently, we didn't expect any real surprises at this one, but we were wrong. This time, there were a number of new
food products that really impressed us. But three of them clearly stood out from all the others.
First, there's a great new product called ImiTaters that are just what their very creative name sounds like...
potato substitutes. These are frozen ready-to-go side dishes that take the place of potatoes with nearly every meal. They're
made from a whipped cauliflower recipe, and they beat anything I've had elsewhere. They're just delicious. We'll be reviewing them
here at Low Carb Luxury shortly.
The second great item was a line of frozen drink mixes that are Splenda sweetened and are uniquely good. They're called
Zero-Carborita. And yes, they blow away the competition. A review is coming.
And lastly, Jim Haun's company, CarbSense brings us the first wonderful sugar free low carb chocolate bar that contains
no sugar alcohols. We reviewed them below. Fabulous. You have to try the new MiniCarb Dark Chocolate Bars.
As an added bonus, while attending the show, we were told that another show with a heavy low carb focus was
in session right down the strip (at the Tropicana.) Even though the crowds were small, we met a lot of nice people and
everyone was anxious to speak to us.
It sure is nice to be back to the moderate (less than 100 degree) temperatures of home. Oh yeah, and don't ask us about
gambling. We're still terribly disappointed over the 50¢ we lost in the one-armed bandits. :)

Our product review team features a "Product Of The
Month" in each issue of our
magazine. These products are a group consensus of those we find to be the most
innovative, healthy, tasty, and/or helpful to the low-carber's daily dietary regime.
MiniCarb Chocolate Bars!
By now, we all know there's a lot of low-carb (sugar free) chocolate out there. But
if you've been living this lifestyle for awhile, you know what the drawback is. They
contain sugar alcohols. Sometimes a LOT of sugar alcohols. And if you don't want to
suffer the "gastric distress", you usually have to sharply limit your intake, or cut
them out altogether.
So what we've needed is a great low carb chocolate bar that doesn't contain sugar
alcohols. Nothing like that exists... right? Well, that used to be true. And then
at the recent NNFA show in Las Vegas, Neil and I had a chance to sample the new
MiniCarb Chocolate Bars — all made with NO SUGAR ALCOHOLS. Yeah, really.
And you know what? They're fantastic. A high quality dark chocolate with a silky
texture that won't leave you guilty OR uncomfortable! These scrumptious bars come in three rich varieties:
Dark Chocolate, Dark Chocolate with Almonds, and Dark Chocolate with Soy Crisps.
Sweetened with Splenda, they come in at 4 net carbs per bar (5 for the almond bar)
and are worth every gram. If you've been missing a truly "legal" chocolate bar,
MiniCarb has just come to your rescue! They'll be available nationwide at low carb and specialty
retailers soon.
