Lora Ruffner, often referred to as the "Oprah of Low Carb," has a long history
in the low carb industry.
She attended The Art Institute of Atlanta before deciding to
go for a nursing degree several years later. Lora got her license as a practical
nurse from OBVTS in Southern Arkansas and then went for her registered nursing
license after graduating from the University of Cincinnati. There she majored
in nutrition and psychology.
Lora worked as both a nurse and as a graphic designer over a 15+ year span. In her
work as a graphic designer, Lora has mastered the ins and outs of marketing technique,
branding, and building a cohesive corporate identity. She's since brought those skills
to her work at Low Carb Luxury.
During this time she was also honing her writing skills and her work has been featured
in numerous publications:
- Low Carb Energy Magazine
- CarbLite Magazine
- Atlanta Journal
- St. Louis Post Dispatch
- Carb Health Magazine
- Keto Kitchen
Lora took an interest in cooking at an early age, sparked by her mother's influence — a
gourmet cook herself who penned several cookbooks. Recipe development has been an
ongoing hobby with Lora, so a transition to low carb cooking was natural for her.
Lora is CEO of Low Carb Luxury, Inc., serves as Editor-In-Chief for Low Carb Luxury Magazine, and
is a partner in LNS Consulting for the low carb and specialty food industries.
